A lot of changes have taken place since last June. The "La Fronter" pages have been moved to their own domain...www.sitce.com. A staff directory has been added, the newsletter page contains more issues and stories, but also no pictures yet, a guestbook is now available for visitors to sign, and the navigation system has been refined. As to navigation, I am considering converting it over to a heirarchical, so-called drop down menu, system. I found one that works well across platforms and may be the solution to a complex web site which this is one is becoming.

The preparations for November's First Annual "La Frontera" Economic Development Conference are under way. To accomodate the needs of our anticipated participants and exhibitors, we have provided an entire section of information pertaining to the upcoming event. To expidite the registration process, we are developing a web-based process that will allow registrants to enter all the data necessary to make and confirm their reservations. Stay tuned...

The Human Resources page is now on-line. We will update the page with Job Openings at the Middle Rio Grande as well as provide our standard job application form as a download.
We also have our Site Map up to date.

The transition of the site over to PHP is complete. All links to all pages should now be transferred. If you see the error page, it means that you are trying to access the old HTML pages, which no longer exist. Update your favorite links as appropriate. Please let us know if there are any dead links.

28-APR-04

The website is going through some changes. The web master is changing the site's methodology to make it much easier to update in the future. You'll also see some changes to the layout of the pages in an attempt to make navigation much easier. Please let us know if you like the changes.

Sign our new Guestbook. We'll have links to it on the other pages soon, but for now, the only link is on this page.

The On-Line Newsletter is finally...on-line. Visit our Public Relations page to find out more and access our newsletter portal.

15-MAR-04

The release of the MRGDC Newsletter On-Line was a bit premature. There is still work to be done to complete all of its phases. Lots of testing, lots of debugging. Please be patient, and we'll have it up and running again. For those of you who may have linked to that page, please bear with the growing pains. Things might now work as expected for some time. Thank you.

25-FEB-04

The Public Relations page now has a new addition. The MRGDC Newsletter page has been designed to serve to visitors all the articles published in as many of our newsletters as we have been able to track down. Some newsletters were lost due to changes in position of the editor, but the majority will be represented. The service is still in its infancy, and at the moment, there is no data, but we expect that now that the tools are in place to manage the data, we should have new issues up very soon. Check back with us periodically to see the progress being made.

29-JAN-04

The Planning Division has added new links to their page. Community and Economic Profiles of the Middle Rio Grande Region are now available for download either as one piece or by county.

More changes have come to the web site. The COG Region area is developing quite nicely, content is building and links have been added to external sources of information about each county. I'm also refining the design and making it more aesthetically pleasing (like moving the masthead out of the content area of each page). We will changing web hosts soon, so this site might experience some time offline. Don't give up on us! The new web host is going to give me much more capability and flexibility in how content is delivered. Another layer of complexity, but ultimately, much more efficient use of bandwidth. Stay tuned!

The Middle Rio Grande Development Foundation recently had a very successful golf tournament in Brackettville. We want to thank everyone who came out and played and all the volunteers who showed up to help. The Foundation, which is an integral part of the Council of Governments, is moving toward the future in a positive way. The COG newsletter is being published every two weeks, providing up-to-date information to our many partner organizations and agencies, as well as quarterly in which stories of note are given more in-depth analysis and consideration. This site continues to evolve, the most obvious change being the removal of the drop-down menu navigation system from this site. There were too many problems between browsers and platforms to make it useful or aesthetic. Instead, text-based links replace it and exist at the bottom of each page in the site. As well, there is a site-map for the site that will keep pace with the rapid development of our web presence.

Things are changing in our site. Look for new additions very soon, including access to Newsletters present and past. We are also planning pages for each county in the region containing history, links, and statistics unique to each. So keep an eye out for us...we're working around the clock to bring you the latest and greatest information that we can (around the clock meaning 8 to 5, M to F, of course).
