Here is a description of the Senior Services that we offer:Nutrition Services:The AAA contracts with local entities to provide hot nutritious meals delivered to home bound individuals, and hot noon meals are also served in a congregate setting at local nutrition/senior centers in Dimmit, Zavala, La Salle, Maverick, Val Verde, Uvalde, Kinney, Real and Edwards Counties. Transportation Services:The AAA contracts for transportation services throughout the nine county area to provide transportation to and from the grocery store, doctors appointments, social services agencies, nutrition centers, and other important locations. Information Referral & Assistance:Our staff can provide you with information on the available services in our area and can assist you in obtaining these services. Staff will coordinate with other agencies, whether Federal, State, or local, and can refer you to the appropriate agency that will meet your needs. Nursing Home Ombudsman:Trained staff and volunteers that advocate for the rights of nursing home residents and ensure that they are being cared for properly. Volunteers are required to complete a 36 hour course on federal and state requirements to identify, investigate and help resolve resident complaints. Each of the nursing homes in the Middle Rio Grande Region currently have a volunteer Ombudsman assigned. Benefits Counseling and Legal Awareness:Our trained staff will provide you information on public and private benefits you may be eligible for. Detailed information regarding Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security are just of few of the services we have expertise on. Additionally, staff is able to assist you in completing any application process with you and will provide you information on any options available that may assist you becoming eligible for services. |
