    Middle Rio Grande Development Council is accepting applications for:

 

Maintenance Worker for the Del Rio Workforce Center. This position will report directly to the Workforce Center Manager. Minimum qualifications: Be able to work 20 hours per week. General cleaning and maintenance of building , grounds, and storage areas. Examples of the duties and responsibilities are cleaning office work areas and restrooms; sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum and polish floors; removal of trash and other refuse; dust equipment, furniture and fixtures, maintenance of custodial supplies; must be able to assemble furniture and perform minor mechanical repairs; may perform duties as a shipper and receiver; transport and arrange materials in the storage areas; load and unload various weights of materials and merchandise and store in proper locations; maintain and adjust thermostats; filters; clean all debris on office grounds; cut grass areas and perform related tasks as required. Hourly rate starts at $7.92 depending on experience. Register at the Workforce Center and complete an MRGDC application. The Workforce Center will forward applications to the central office:

PLACEMENT SPECIALIST at the Texas Workforce Center @ Cotulla: The primary responsibility of this position is to provide clients that walk into the Workforce Center with the menu of services that are available to them. The Placement Specialist is the first person that a client sees after registration, it is imperative that he/she be well versed in all of the services available to clients through the different funding sources.  Works with staff to assure that customers are provided quality services.  Reports directly to Workforce Center Manager.  Ability to use personal computers for correspondence, reports, and database access.  Minimum of a High School Diploma from an accredited High School or GED certification plus a minimum of four years in related work experience.  Thirty hours of college academic courses may be substituted for each year of direct experience or two years of related experience might be substituted for each year of direct work experience.  Starting salary for this position is $21,620.

Workforce Case  Manager  in the Uvalde  Workforce Solutions  Center: Applicants must possess a minimum of a high school diploma and preference will be given to applicants with college hours, a degree and direct experience.  Direct or related experience may be substituted for credentials preferred.  Performs entry-level customer  intake, assessment, application,  and  eligibility determination duties for all Workforce Development Programs.  Responsible for  case  management and serves as liaison to the community and  agencies which serve as  resources benefiting  participants.  Provides lead  role in the development of career  paths and  training recommendations  leading  to job placement  in  high skill, high wage jobs under close supervision of  the Workforce Center Manager.  Reviews all intake eligibility and  initiates team  review for enrollment or referral to appropriate activities. Work includes the dissemination  of  basic information  regarding Workforce Development programs; assisting in facilitating client access to all Workforce Development programs such as training and education services, employment services, and labor market information, as well as supportive services, including child care services, unemployment compensation, student loans, and other financial assistance programs.   Responsible for all primary and final documentation  necessary to track  program activities.  Applicants should possess a customer orientation and ability to work with all types of customers served through the workforce centers.  All applicants must be able to use Microsoft Word and other software applications on a personal computer.  Starting salary for this position is $20,322 depending  on experience/qualifications.

9-1-1/GIS Field Mapping Specialist under the Planning and Operations Division in Del Rio:  Primary duties include collecting field data using GPS technology, data retrieval, and data entry using Windows Office applications and Crystal Reports.  This position will require someone with wide-ranging telephone communication skills in order to deal with the public on a daily basis, as well as scheduling office appointments. The effective use of conversational Spanish is preferred.  Traveling in and out of the region will be required and the person accepting this position will be required to maintain an insured vehicle at all times.  AutoCad, ArcView, and/or ArcMap experience is preferred. The person for this position should have an overall knowledge of the area and the skills to familiarize themselves with both county and city officials and their respective departments. This position will be headquartered at the Middle Rio Grande Workforce Solutions Center in Del Rio, Texas.   Salary range for this position is $23,270 – 25,028 depending on experience/qualifications.

I & A Specialist/Ombudsman under the Planning and Operations Division.  This position will be housed in the Eagle Pass Workforce Solutions office.   This position is responsible for advocating for the rights of residents and their families to receive the highest quality of care in long term care facilities. Develop and maintain a positive referral relationship with the Teas Department of Human Services and the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.  Will provide information and referral to the general public and with emphasis on older persons regarding available services, resources, their benefits and entitlements.   Works under general supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.  The effective use of conversational Spanish is preferred.  Traveling in and out of the region will be required and the person accepting this position will be required to maintain an insured vehicle at all times. Starting salary for this position is $20,322 depending on experience/qualifications.
